Add one and a half cups of water per cup of rice. Wash rice, and cook for 10-12 minutes on a medium heat. Drain, cover, and leave to stand for three minutes. Fluff, then serve.
Commonly used in Indian, Persian and Middle eastern dishes, Basmati is ideal for adding to soups, stews, and vegetable dishes. As well as creating biryani and pilau. For side dishes, toast the grains for extra flavour, and add garlic, ginger, turmeric, chilli and lime leaf.
